Rotation moulding
Rotomoulding is a manufacturing method to create a new product from plastic powder. This product can be a workpiece carrier, bin or a lid. The mould is first heated, making the powder melt. By rotating the mould around two axes, the plastic us pushed against the mould. After cooling down the plastic retains the shape of the mould and a new product is born.
Advantages rotomoulding
- A rotomoulded product consists of one piece. The plastic is therefore extremely strong and stable.
- A unique product? With rotation moulding, it can be achieved against investments that are not expressed in millions, but in tens of thousands of euros. The mold of a rotational molded product is at most about 5% of an injection mold.
- With rotomoulding the wall thickness is free. Products are as strong as you wish, without reinforcement ribs!
- Rotation molded products are completely smooth and therefor easy to clean
Disadvantage: The production process is time consuming. The flow rate does not exceed 10% of the injection molding.
