1955
Our company was officially founded by subscription at the chamber of commerce in Tilburg, 1-1-1960 by Jan Engels. He started supplying machines and parts to the textile industry. That included racking and riveted fiber bins (in use before the development of plastic) and later also out of plastic. When the production of standard textiles in Holland came to an end in 1968, Jan Engels succeeded in surviving by finding other customers for his racks, bins and trolleys.
1985
In 1985 a second generation took over and the first major projects at the interface between logistics and the environment were realised; 1000 customised XL pallet boxes for the collection of fluorescent tubes and from 1989 we supplied the first environmental boxes to the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Germany.
1997
In 1990, the move from Tilburg to the town of Son (near Eindhoven) followed and in 1997, Engels Logistics NV was founded in Zonhoven, Belgium. In France, Engels Manutention et Environnement SARL started its activities on 1 January 2005. In Portugal, the company Engels Logística e Ambiente LDA has been in operation since 1 July 2006.
2005
In 2008, HLC Milieuservice became part of the Engels Group through an acquisition. Engels presents its product line of underground and semi-underground waste containers. Since 2009, we have been serving our German-speaking customers through our Engels Behältertechnik GmbH site in Selmsdorf, Lübeck. This is particularly dedicated to the production of our underground waste containers and other metal accessories from our delivery program.
2011
In July 2011, the Engels Group acquired Norah Plastics NV in Herentals, a specialist in plastic containers and pallets for 35 years. The combined expertise in the field of bins, crates and pallets for logistics and food applications created synergy between the two companies and added value. In September 2012, Engels in Belgium moved to a new location in Paal-Beringen on the motorway with a storage area of 10,000 m².
2020
From May 1, 2020, our head office will be located at Park Forum in Eindhoven. Our current location is a better fit with the increased production facilities and larger warehouse, geared to fast delivery.
2023
Protechnic Ltd is a UK manufacturing company that has been supplying high-end cases and protective foam interiors to industry, defense and a range of other industries for over 25 years. With this acquisition, Engels Group has the opportunity to provide its existing customers in mainland Europe with these unique tailor-made products and can also further roll out Engels' delivery program in the United Kingdom.
