ESD storage bins (picking bins) give static electricity absolutely no chance! As more and more products use micro-electronics, working ESD safe becomes increasingly important.
Electrostatic discharge can cause damage to electronic components: connections in microchips are often less than 0.001 mm thick and easily burn out (partially) if touched unprotected. An invisible spark can destroy a chip, or damage it to such an extent that it gives up after several months. Irritation, loss of brand prestige and warranty costs are the result.
Due to the esd-conductive plastic (surface resistance 104 Ohm), the plastic storage bins receive the same voltage as the person touching the plastic and no current flows through them when components are touched. If the person is earthed by a wrist strap himself and so is the work surface on which the container stands, they have the same potential. Last but not least, conductive plastic itself does not become static and therefore does not attract dust.
