Molco Car Parts
Molco Car Parts, a supplier of high-quality car parts for both the business and consumer markets, has recently experienced an impressive period of growth. This growth led to the need for a larger and more efficient storage facility. The company decided to relocate from Druten to a newer, larger warehouse in Wijchen. This move was necessary to ensure customer promises and to realise further business growth.
The Challenge
Relocating to a new warehouse also brings with it the necessary challenges, and Molco faced several challenges. First, the picking operation had to be planned in such a way that customers could still collect their orders within 20 minutes at the warehouse. A system had to be implemented that would indicate the priority of the order.
In addition, it was essential to optimise the logistical processes and reduce the number of handling operations, despite the increase in stock and product range. Finally, it was important that the warehouse was fitted out in accordance with the sustainability policy.
The Solution
A carefully planned and executed move to the new premises in Wijchen has provided a good basis for a solution to the above challenges. The new building offers sufficient space for the storage of the growing product range. The new warehouse management system and the fully automatic packing line from MAAS Internal LogistiX are part of the renewed logistical process that ensures that handling is reduced and efficiency is increased. In addition, solar panels and energy-saving measures, among other things, ensured that the sustainability policy was met.
The Role of Engels in this Solution
For the challenges around product carriers, Molco turned to Engels. Engels was ultimately able to supply 750 turn-stackable bins with the following characteristics:
- Dimensions of 800x400x350mm, these dimensions ensure that even large car parts can be easily picked.
- 3 Colours, the containers are supplied in green, blue, and grey to distinguish between the different order flows and their priorities.
- Stackable and nestable, the containers can be both stacked and nested.
User Experience
Molco has been using our stack-nesting bins for some time now, incorporating them into daily order picking operations. Jan Weterings, Logistics Manager at Molco, expresses great satisfaction, affirming that the collaboration was seamless and that the bins significantly enhance daily operations.
