Engels has developed a custom flight case for Dynafix

The request from Dynafix for a custom solution to transport Sage coffee machines, leads to a successful collaboration between Engels and Dynafix.

Dynafix

Dynafix, located in Nuth (NL), provides support throughout the entire lifecycle of consumer electronics. The company is involved in installing, repairing, and recycling various electronic devices. As part of the Dynagroup, they manage the logistics of these devices internally with Dynalogic, a full-service delivery specialist. Dynafix aims to completely relieve its customers, from the moment of collection at the customer's location to the delivery of installed, repaired, or refurbished equipment.

Looking for a suitable packaging solution.

Dynafix was in search of a reliable and sustainable packaging solution for its client Sage, a producer and distributor of high-quality kitchen appliances. There was a significant need for a product carrier that is easy for delivery personnel to use while providing sturdy protection for the valuable contents. Additionally, it was important for Dynafix to have only one size of flight case that accommodates all types of coffee machines. Having all machines transported in the same flight case would simplify inventory management.

"When the need arose for a better packaging solution for Sage's high-quality coffee machines, I knew I had to turn to Engels," said Danny Murkens, business development manager at Dynafix. Danny Murkens (Dynafix) and Jos van Bergen (Engels) already knew each other from previous successful collaborations. After reaching out to Engels, they began working on creating a suitable solution for Sage.

"We wanted a sustainable solution for our client Sage, who sought a secure and high-quality transport solution for its coffee machines."

The solution

After extensive discussions about the packaging requirements and the initial sketches were drawn, a first prototype was quickly developed. However, it turned out to be too heavy for easy transportation, as Dynalogic's delivery personnel need to load and unload these cases from the transport van. In response to the feedback, Engels promptly developed an alternative.

A custom-made flight case made from plastic honeycomb panels proved to be the solution. This material is sturdy, easy to shape, and very lightweight. To ensure the safe transport of the coffee machines, padding was added inside to absorb any water leaks. "Defective machines can leak water, and this padding prevents the water from spreading throughout the transport van," explains Murkens.

To meet Dynafix's standardization requirement, a single-sized case was developed with an internal band system to secure the coffee machine, regardless of its size, for safe transport. The advantage of this system is that the case is also adaptable for future models, which may have different dimensions.

A succesfull collaboration

The collaboration between Dynafix and Engels has been successful, according to both parties. As mentioned, the companies already knew each other from previous projects, and Dynafix saw Engels as the suitable partner to tackle Sage's challenge.

Both companies prioritize environmental concerns and aim for sustainable customer solutions and responsible business practices. Engels is committed to combating single-use packaging, while Dynafix gives electronic devices a second life through sustainable after-sales practices. The shared commitment to sustainability, along with other shared values, has led to a successful collaboration, an appropriate packaging solution, and a satisfied customer.
