The CO2 Performance Ladder is an instrument that helps us systematically identify, reduce and report our CO2 emissions.
At Engels, we strive to be at the forefront of the transition to a more sustainable world. Since our founding in 1955, we have developed into more than just a supplier of plastic bins, pallets, pallet boxes and waste containers. We have become a sustainability champion, committed to reducing our environmental footprint and driving a greener logistics sector.
Introduction to the CO2 Performance Ladder
The CO2 Performance Ladder is an instrument that helps us systematically identify, reduce and report our CO2 emissions. It serves as a mirror to our progress and a springboard for further sustainability initiatives. This report provides an overview of our efforts and progress on this front, and is a testimony to our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Our CO2 Footprint: A Transparent View
In 2022, we have determined a total CO2 emission of 257,7 tons, with a targeted distribution between direct and indirect emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3). This measurement forms our baseline, from which we strive for continuous improvement. In the first half of 2023, our total CO2 emissions were reduced to 153,8 tonnes, an encouraging indication of our efforts to reduce our environmental impact.
Strategies for CO2 Reduction and Sustainability Initiatives
Our approach includes a broad spectrum of initiatives, from making our fleet more sustainable to actively participating in sector and chain initiatives. We have committed ourselves to reducing logistics movements through collaboration with suppliers and promoting a circular economy.
Future Plans and Objectives
With a clear vision ahead, Engels has drawn up an ambitious action plan for 2023-2030. We focus on further reducing our CO2 emissions and increasing our contribution to sustainable logistics solutions. Through innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement, we strive to minimize our impact on the planet.
We recently received the certificate for level 3 of the CO2 Performance Ladder, which you can download here. You can also view this certificate on the SKAO website via the following link https://www.co2-prestatieladder.nl/
