Blood tubes transport box Sanquin

For the daily transport of the 10 to fifteen thousand pipes from all over the country Sanquin sought for a suitable transport box.

In many hundreds of different donor centers spread throughout the country, blood donations are performed daily at 4000 to 5000 voluntary donors. At every blood donation, 3 tubes of blood are filled, which are tested centrally within the laboratories of the NSC (National Screening Laboratory Sanquin) in Amsterdam.

ADR legislation

Due to the nature of the contents, the container must meet specific conditions, the so-called ADR legislation, UN 3373 / P650 certificate. An additional requirement is that the temperature in the box should not exceed 30 ° C.

Engels Logistiek BV has years of experience in manufacturing ADR / UN approved containers for both medical transport and transport of hazardous substances. The transport box was designed with special racks in which the blood tubes can be placed. These racks are placed in a plastic liner together with absorption mat. Finally, a seal is applied to the box itself. The temperature of the innerbox was tested by the laboratoies of Sanquin and they met the requirements. The performance of the complete box was measured and approved by the Belgian Packaging Institute.

Transport bin

All these efforts have led to two sizes of boxes, one is 300x200x233 mm and the other 400x300x233 mm. In each region, a different color box is used to make it clear where the box is originated from. This is further indicated by an imprint. The boxes are equipped with the UN certificate and the Sanquin logo.
