As a sustainable logistics partner, Engels is committed every day to a more efficient and cleaner future. That’s why, since 2024, we have been running on HVO100, a 100% renewable fuel made from residual waste streams and vegetable oils.
With this step, we reduce our COâ‚‚ emissions by up to 90% compared to traditional diesel and contribute to the transition towards fossil-free logistics.
Engels is proud to be an HVO100 ambassador and part of the Fueled to Sustain programme by Sanders Fritom, an initiative in which transport partners join forces to create a climate-neutral logistics sector.
What is HVO100?
HVO100 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) is a 100% renewable fuel produced from residual and waste streams such as vegetable oils and fats. By making this transition, we reduce our CO₂ emissions by up to 90% compared to conventional diesel – without compromising on quality, performance or reliability.
A link in a greater chain
Switching to HVO100 fits seamlessly with our broader sustainability strategy. Engels Logistiek has been ISO 14001 certified for many years and invests in solar energy, recycled materials and circular production methods. In addition, we take back used plastic boxes, pallets and containers for reuse or recycling – a tangible example of our cradle-to-cradle principle.
Our commitment to this initiative aligns perfectly with our ISO 14001 certification and the sustainability policy of the Engels Group, in which reuse, recycling and energy-neutral operations play a central role.

Moving foreward together
We believe that sustainable progress is achieved through collaboration. By joining the Fueled to Sustain initiative, we join forces with like-minded partners within the same chain and make the impact of sustainable transport visible.
The transition to HVO100 is just one part of our broader approach. Engels Logistiek is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified and operates according to the cradle-to-cradle principle. This means: reuse before recycling, and recycling before waste. In addition, we generate our own solar energy, invest in energy-efficient buildings, and encourage conscious energy use across all our locations in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Portugal and the United Kingdom.
